W3.org has a great tool to check for broken link in your website. I recommend it for everyone to use. But if you’re using self-hosted WordPress blogs, there is this plugin that does the same as w3′s tool but better. The plugin is called “Broken Link Checker” by Janis Elsts.

Here are the key features of that amazing plugin:

• Monitors links in your posts, pages, the blogroll, and custom fields (optional).
• Detects links that don’t work and missing images.
• Notifies you on the Dashboard if any are found.
• Also detects redirected links.
• Makes broken links display differently in posts (optional).
• Link checking intervals can be configured.New/modified posts are checked ASAP.
• You view broken links, redirects, and a complete list of links used on your site, in the Tools -> Broken Links tab.
• Searching and filtering links by URL, anchor text and so on is also possible.
• Each link can be edited or unlinked directly via the plugin’s page, without manually editing each post.

As you can see from the picture above,there are 290 broken links (which is currently displayed), 455 redirects and the total number of links.

From the “Source” column, you can easily ‘edit’, ‘delete’ or ‘view’ the blog post. That is, if you want to correct the URL of the broken link, you can simply click on ‘edit’ and that’s it. Or if you wish, you can also easily unlink broken link by clicking the ‘unlink’ in the URL column. That easy and that is a big convenience compared to the w3 tool which only displays the URL of the broken link.

SEO Smart Links is one of the best WordPress plugin I have ever seen so far in my existence from the WordPress blogging world!

SEO Smart Link, which was developed by Vladimir Prelovac, is a WordPress plugin that automatically converts pre-determined words and phrases to link of your choice, hence creating backlinks automagically!

It allows you to set up your own keywords and set of matching URLs. Meaning you can either create internal links throughout your blogsites or you can link to external sites… which also has an option to set the nofollow tag or open the link in new window.

Go ahead and try it for a spin.. It works perfectly! You can download it here, or just go to your Plugin section of your WordPress dashboard and click on ‘Install Plugin’, go search for “SEO Smart Links” and install from there.
