How to build a product landing page to sell our own products through our blog? Should we develop a page on the same domain, or should we put it on another domain?

That was the question that the guy in Daily Blogging Tips answere in his weekly Q&A. The summary of his answer was, it depends.

It depends meaning that a marketer can put his sales page on his blog or he can also put it in a separate domain.

If the product page is in his blog, his followers or blog reader are a lot more comfortable either site and having trust on a site is a big factor in affiliate marketing.

The negative side of putting the product landing page on a blog, according to DBT is that there are a lot of distractions on a blog, that is additional and unnecessary images, navigational and sidebar links and other links. These links are the ‘exit points’ that we must lessen if not eliminate in a sales page. These exit points does not exist in most product landing pages that are hosted in a separate domain.

If you still want to put your landing page in your blog for whatever reason (trusting site, loyal readers etc.) here is what I would do…

Since your blog is your brand and you want to be always associated with it, you can create a static page and turn it as your product sales page. You can use your blog’s header image or logo or the header part of your blog, then create the rest of the page… Minus the unnecessary links… Plus all the big h1 headers, the red colored fonts, the whole nine yards.

I did that in one of my first blog that offers music download.. Works prettty good, you can try it too and let me know how it goes..
