What education means Today

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be called “educated”. I know that if you’ve completed elementary, high school, and college, you’re educated. But is that really the case?
I couldn’t help but think that if being educated means that you know about the general things that they taught you at school then how come I can’t recall most of them?
I realize the reason why everything I was taught in school was barely retained in my mind is because I wasn’t really learning them because I wanted to. I was learning them because I needed to pass the required grade and to move on. There was no true value or appreciation placed in knowing what I was being taught.
Because of this, the things that I’ve ”learned” because I had to pass were all forgotten. They were only stored temporarily. And now I find that I regret that I have.
The mindset of today’s youth shouldn’t be superimposed with the same notion; that is to learn just to pass. It would bode for a better future if it were otherwise.

If you want to learn something comprehensively, there’s a number of books that can be easily accessed and purchased for that. The Dummies line of books publish topics about almost every single thing you can think of.
There are Dummy books for programming and how to use a software from MS Office to Photoshop to any kind really. Books about business, science, and law. Name it and they might just have it.
The Dummy books are very comprehensive and easy to understand. They’re not your typical school books that talk about technical things and need an actual instructor to guide you through the book. The author of Dummy books are the instructor themselves which makes them great reference for self study.
The Hobby of Reading

Reading is a great hobby and one of the many that I indulge in. When you read, you learn a lot of things. More importantly, regardless of what you read, be it a romance novel or an encyclopedia, you’re knowledge will sure grow.
It’s one of the best things that I like to do in life because reading about things give you an idea of what the world is out there. You get to experience someone else’s world for a moment and you get a glimpse on how they handle life and you get to reflect if what they did was proper or not.
Reading is a great hobby for learning and when you read you do learn something whether you like it or not.
Normal Day

What is a typical normal day for you?
For me it’s waking up early in the morning to go to work. My morning rituals are fairly typical as they involve shower, breakfast, and change. Then after I leave my home, I battle the everyday challenge of commuting. I swear, on most days, the number of people that crowd the public transportations seem to grow in number.
During work, I wait for the lunch hour. After lunch, I wait for the office day to end. Office work is always productive but it’s really just another day of droll work. Going home after and repeating the cycle all over again makes me want to go nuts sometimes.
